| CEREMONIAL, QUEZALTENANGO | ||
|
The indigenous woman of Quezaltenango wears a dress exclusively for religious ceremonies. Over the interior blouse or huipil, thick with decoration, she wears a larger one, woven by hand in the manner of lace, and decorated with highly stylized designs, in orange and magenta, designs which resemble floral material. This huipil is worn, at times up to the neck, others only to make a frame for the face. When it is used up to the neck, the indigenous woman covers her head with lace or a mantilla over the sash of more than a meter rolled un on the head. The skirt is common, of the tie-dye type. This apparel is very spectacular. By Carlos Merida |
espectacular.
