For many years Francisco played soccer in Dolores Park or Franklin Square Park. Francisco made many friends in the parks where besides playing soccer, they also smoked weed and drank. Most Latin men know each other by nicknames, and Francisco was known as Shorty. In spite of his height, he was an excellent goalie. Francisco continues to hang around with friends in Franklin Square Park even though he is tnow oo old to play. Trying to stay clean and sober, Francisco will stay away from the park for a few days or a week, but then he will return. The park is where he ends up drinking. He may arrive at the park early, spend the whole day there, and not return to our house until after midnight. His late arrival wakes up the dogs, whose barking wakes us up too.
